University of Mauritius Grading System

The University of Mauritius uses a grading system that is based on the percentage of marks obtained in examinations and assignments. The marks are then converted into letter grades, with each letter grade having a corresponding point value. The point values are then used to calculate a student’s grade point average (GPA).

university of mauritius grading system

The GPA is calculated by taking the sum of the point values for all of the grades that a student has earned, and then dividing that sum by the total number of credits that the student has attempted. The GPA is a number between 0 and 4.0, with 4.0 being the highest possible GPA.

How to Calculate the University of Mauritius Grading System

The GPA is calculated by a three-step procedure:

  • Multiply the grade point for each course done in a semester by the number of CU for that course
  • Add the figures for each of these courses to arrive at the grade point total
  • Divide this grade point total by the total number of credits (CU) for which a grade was received.
Grade Description Division US Grade
First Class Honours A
Second Class Honours Upper Division A- / B+
Second Class Honours Lower Division B
Third Class Honours B-
Pass C
