The Prince Albert Municipality, in partnership with the Provincial Treasury, is inviting students to apply for the Bursary Programme for the 2022 academic year.

Prince Albert Municipality is a local municipality responsible for governing and managing the town of Prince Albert. The town is part of the Western Cape province. The Prince Albert Municipality comes under the Central Karoo District Municipality.

The areas that the local municipality is supposed to cover are Klaarstroom, Prince Albert, Prince Albert Road, and Leeu Gamka, among others. The combined population of these towns is 13,000. It offers multiple services to the residents like protection service, electricity and utility, fire and rescue, town planning, roads and transportation, waste management, and public participation.

Prince Albert Municipality Bursary: Coverage Value & Selection

The bursary will be awarded for 1 academic year of study. Funding will be paid directly into the tertiary institution’s bank account.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 30 working days after the closing date – if you do not receive any feedback by this time, please regard your application as unsuccessful. Please note that canvassing will result in automatic disqualification.

Documents Required

You need to supplement the application form with the following documents:

  • ID documents
  • Full and updated CV
  • Academic certificates received till now
  • Most recent examination results
  • Proof of registration at a recognised institution
  • Bank details of the tertiary institution
  • Proof of residence (can provide your municipal account)
  • Proof of income of parents or guardians (payslips if employed; affidavit if unemployed; pension or grant documents if applicable)
  • Proof of permanent disability
  • Academic results from last year (if applying for a second bursary)

The documents must be certified copies.

Requirements for the Prince Albert Municipality Bursary

Please double-check that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry requirements before applying; failure to do so will result in your application being rejected:

  • You must be a South African citizen
  • You must reside within the Prince Albert Municipal area, in the Western Cape Province
  • You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification, in one of the fields above
  • You must be registered to study at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa, for 2022
  • You must have a strong academic record
  • You must be in financial need
  • You must be interested in uplifting and changing the community
  • Students with disabilities and students from historically disadvantaged groups are encouraged to apply
